Small Business Website Design for UK Companies
Websites that bring in enquiries. We design and build professional websites for trades, local services, professional firms and growing companies across the UK, designed around your customers and built in-house from first concept to launch.
What a Small Business Website Needs to Do
For most small businesses the website has one job: to turn people who are already looking for what you do into enquiries, bookings or calls. That sounds simple, but it depends on getting a handful of things right. Visitors need to understand within seconds what you offer and where, see evidence that other customers trust you, and find an obvious way to get in touch. Google needs to be able to find and understand the site so that those visitors arrive in the first place.
We have designed and built websites for a wide range of small businesses across the UK, including solicitors, law firms and other professional services, recruitment companies, HR consultancies, window cleaning and other trades, authors, e-commerce stores and membership organisations. The details vary, but the fundamentals of a website that wins business are the same in every sector.
Every site is designed from scratch around your brand and your customers, hand-coded with modern technology rather than a page builder, and delivered with transparent pricing. Small business website design starts from £2,400.
What Every Small Business Website We Build Includes
A Page for Every Service
Separate, well-written pages for each service you offer, so visitors find exactly what they need and Google has a specific page to rank for each search.
Trust Signals
Reviews, accreditations, case studies, real photographs and the people behind the business, placed where visitors are deciding whether to get in touch.
Clear Routes to Contact
Quote forms, click-to-call numbers and online booking where it suits your business, with every page ending in a clear next step.
Mobile-First and Fast
Most of your visitors will be on a phone. The site is designed for small screens first and built to load quickly on an ordinary mobile connection.
Local Search Foundations
Page titles and descriptions written for the searches your customers make, a sitemap, and a structure that lines up with your Google Business Profile.
Launch, Hosting and Support
Testing on a private server, launch to managed cloud hosting from £20 a month or a handover of the code, and quick updates whenever you need them.
Getting Found by Local Customers
Most small businesses win customers from a defined area, so local search matters more than almost anything else the website does. We set up the foundations during the build rather than bolting them on afterwards:
- Business name, address and phone number presented consistently and matching your Google Business Profile
- Individual service pages, and area pages where you serve several towns or boroughs, each with genuinely useful content rather than a swapped place name
- Page titles and descriptions that use the words customers actually search for
- Fast loading and mobile-first layouts, which search engines reward and customers expect
- A sitemap and clean structure so Google can crawl and understand every page
If you want a steady flow of enquiries after launch, ongoing search engine optimisation is available as a separate service. Several of our clients have seen their firms reach the first page of Google for the searches that matter to them, and you can read what they say in our Trustpilot reviews.
Packages and Prices
We publish our prices rather than making you ask. A custom-designed small business website of up to around ten pages starts from £2,400. If you want to update content yourself, the website plus admin dashboard package starts from £3,900 and gives you a secure admin area with a database behind it. Managed cloud hosting is available from £20 per month, and if your business needs a logo or a refresh of its branding, our logo and brand design is quoted alongside the website so everything matches.
Payment is a 50% deposit with the balance on completion, and the website, its design and its code are yours once the final payment is made. The full breakdown is on our prices page, and our guide to how much a website costs in the UK explains what to expect from the wider market.
How a Project Runs
- Your requirements. You tell us about your business, your customers and your goals, and we give you a fixed quotation.
- Logic and visuals. We plan the site structure and create visual mockups for your approval before anything is built.
- Development. We build the website, keep you updated and give you a realistic completion date.
- Testing and launch. You review the finished site on a test server, we refine it, and then we launch it or hand over the files.
Already have a website that is holding you back? Our website redesign service replaces dated or underperforming sites without losing the search rankings you have built up.

Small Business Website Questions
How much does a small business website cost?
Our small business websites start from £2,400 for a custom-designed site of up to around ten pages, and from £3,900 with an admin dashboard so you can update content yourself. Managed cloud hosting is available from £20 per month, and logo design is quoted alongside if you need it.
Do we need a new website or can you improve our existing one?
It depends on what you have. If the current site is dated, slow on mobile or no longer bringing in enquiries, a redesign usually gives the best return. We plan it so your existing search rankings are protected. If the site is fundamentally sound, we can advise on smaller improvements instead.
Will our website show up on Google for local searches?
We build the foundations that local search depends on: proper page titles, fast loading, mobile-first layouts, individual service pages and a structure that matches your Google Business Profile. Ongoing search engine optimisation is a separate service, which we can discuss once the site is live.
Can we update the website ourselves?
Yes, if you choose the website plus admin dashboard package. You get a secure admin area for updating pages, news, team members or listings. For simpler sites we make updates for you quickly through our managed hosting.
How long will it take?
Most small business websites take three to six weeks from brief to launch, provided your content is ready. We give you a realistic completion date once the visuals are approved and keep you updated throughout.
